MY WEEK IN PICTURES – WEEK 32 – A MOMENT

Wow, what a busy week! I love my job and this week has been so rewarding. It sounds silly but getting some really lovely thank you cards from clients recently makes me feel that what I do is worthwhile. Knowing that moments I capture for people will be cherished for the rest of their lives, through good times and bad is pretty special really. So this is the 32nd week of this year (how the time is flying by) and it went like this:

Tuesday 6th August 2013 – Editing my socks off! Trying to keep on top of my work load. I find a short break from my screen really beneficial so I like to go for short walks to clear my mind. This is a guy called Martin who I met very briefly on Tuesday on Sydney Street. Duck! I like his t shirt and his moustache. Nice man.

Wednesday 7th August 2013 – When I used to work from home, I could quite easily go for days without seeing anyone so it’s great to be part of my shared studio and even better to be doing this project and getting out on the streets of Brighton. I spotted Neil in a coffee shop on Gardner street on this day and he was nice enough to let me take a few photos. Another nice man.

Thursday 8th August 2013 – I’ve always loved the beautiful and eclectic house boats in Shoreham. I took a booking recently to shoot a couple’s wedding in September and they asked if we could do an engagement shoot on their boat this week. The is Helen and Toby – a sweet couple who are planning a really cool wedding – I can’t wait! Toby’s parents own this houseboat which is a converted German Minesweeper. The Guardian did a story about it – have a read. Toby grew up on houseboats and the both of them lived on this boat for 5 years together. It blew my mind and I was like a child in a sweet shop on this shoot.

Friday 9th August 2013 – This is Haydon Potter, a guy I spotted whilst in town on Friday afternoon. I found a streak of light coming between two buildings for him to stand in to create this look. What is it with me and approaching men this week? A third nice man.

Wedding Photography, Star and Garter, Putney - Alexa Clarke Kent

Saturday 10th August 2013 – I love a London wedding! This is Katie and Alastair who got married right next to the Thames at the Star and Garter in Putney. They organised a very stylish and laid back affair surrounded by their loved ones. I enjoy photographing so many bits of a wedding day but for me, the bit after the ceremony and before the meal is really special. The nerves and build up of emotion can be so overwhelming beforehand – It’s great to see people relax and enjoy a drink and time with their guests afterwards. This is just one quick sneak peek of them by the river. I fell a little bit in love with her dress. What a gorgeous couple.

Sunday 11th August 2013 – A truly epic wedding today! This is Naz and Paul who got married at Herstmonceux Castle in Sussex. The day was filled with so much emotion, and I have never seen a couple so into one another. We snuck out between courses of their sit down meal to get a few photos of just the two of them in the evening light. It’s so hard to choose just one photo for this blog post but I love this one of them enjoying a moment together. The day went by in a flash and it was so busy with so many people – it’s great to have a few minutes of calm. I must say a massive thank you to the lovely and talented Holly Deacon for second shooting with me on this day – with a wedding this big it really helps to have someone else to capture more of the day.

Monday 12th August 2013 – Back into my studio for a whole lot of downloading, backing up and editing. And you’ve guessed it – A fourth nice man! I popped out for an eye break and spotted Paul in a shop on the Laines. I love the reflections going on in this shot.

That’s it for this week. This has been my 32nd week of this years 365 photo a day project. Thanks for looking.
