The start of September means that I am over halfway through my busy spell of weddings. I think working in this industry makes me constantly look into the future. My bookings often arrive a year or so in advance, so I am always trying to plan ahead. So my tasks for this week will be to keep on top of my current editing and to start my autumn marketing drive. Let’s face it, it will probably end up being a winter marketing drive! Where does the time go?
This last week, I have been making the most of the beautiful summer evenings and slightly mourning the fact that they wont last for a lot longer.
Tuesday 27th August 2013 – The first part of this week is all about shop keepers of the North Laine area of Brighton! Am I getting a bit lazy with this project? Possibly, but I will forgive myself. This Mervin who runs the shop Two Feathers on Kensington Gardens.
Wednesday 28th August 2013 – This is Clare and Nigel in her shop on Trafalger Street. Clare designs and sells clothes and accessories in Flax Emporium. I hadn’t been in her shop before today but will do again for sure. Isn’t Nigel cute? He is a sausage dog… I get broody for a dog in the way a lot of women my age get broody for babies!
Thursday 29th August 2013 – A meeting with my bank meant I found myself in the Laines yet again on this day. Not a lot of time on my hands so I took this quick shot of Melanie who works in Revamp Fancy Dress.
Friday 30th August 2013 – These two are turning into being my most featured couple on this blog! Dan and Alex, fondly known as Dalex to some of their friends are two of the nicest people I have ever worked for. I have been looking forward to their wedding since they booked me back in January, and their day did not disappoint! They had a beautiful ceremony in The Royal Pavillion in Brighton followed by a small reception for their nearest and dearest at the Grand. I took so many photos, it was hard to choose just one but I love this shot of them reflected in the glass of a shop front.
Saturday 31st August 2013 – This is the way to do a wedding… On Saturday, Dalex threw a big party for all their friends at the Komedia in Brighton. Who doesn’t love a two day wedding? They decided to do a theme of ‘Dress Fancy’ and asked all their guests to wear an outfit from the 1920s through to the 1950s. What a night! Amazing dancing! And if you remember from my previous posts, Dan and Alex play for the awesome Brighton Rockers Roller Derby team, so naturally a human pyramid was on the cards that evening. If the ceiling was higher, I’m fairly certain they would have attempted another tier!
Sunday 1st September 2013 – A day off with my family of animals. I know it’s a bit lame featuring these two again but I just can’t help myself. Although they are house bunnies, Harley and Maria love a bit of a charge around in their run.
Monday 2nd September 2013 – I went over to meet with Sarah and Steve on Monday late afternoon at Buxted Park Hotel, where they will be married in three weeks! We took the opportunity to discuss their plans and have a wander around the grounds. Such a beautiful evening. They were a bit nervous about being photographed to begin with but I think they began to relax a bit towards the end. They are both very funny and made me laugh a lot!
That’s it for this week. This has been my 35th week of this years 365 photo a day project. Thanks for looking.
