Hello and Welcome

My name is Alexa I have been photographing weddings and portraits since 2006. I live in a little country cottage not far from Brighton, Sussex and I'm lucky to travel all over the UK and beyond for my work. As a wedding photographer, it is my aim to capture the emotions, moments, details and ambiance; allowing you to relive your day over and over again. I love nothing more than the idea of my couples sat together when they are old, looking at their wedding photographs and transporting themselves back to those moments.

About Alexa

I specialise in creative and natural wedding and portrait photography. I am a lover of the light: silhouettes, reflections, sunsets, shadows, winter sun, dappled clouds, beams of light through windows and doorways. I am always on the lookout for beautiful light.

My favourite things in life are: art, music, travelling with my camera, my animals (two cats, two house bunnies and a few chickens!), watching tv box sets and movies, swimming in the sea (when it’s warm enough), snowboarding down mountains (when it’s cold enough), cooking, eating, laughing and lastly (but certainly not least) spending time with my lovely better half.

When given the chance to double barrel my maiden name with my new marital name, I jumped at the chance… Who wouldn’t want Clarke-Kent as a surname right? I took this excuse to rebrand and launch this website under my new married name. Exciting times!

Enough about me, let's talk about you...

Are you a tiny bit camera shy? Do you cringe at the thought of being the centre of attention? A lot of my clients often say these things to me when I first meet them and I think it's a very normal way to feel. I totally get it! One thing that I've learnt from the years of photographing weddings is that every single person is different and so I try my very hardest to make every client feel at ease in front of the camera. I want you to see me as a friend who just happens to be pretty good with a camera!

Do you love the idea of unposed photographs? A natural and relaxed feel is what I strive for... A lot of the photographs you will see on here have been 'posed' to an extent but my real aim is to allow you to forget about the camera. I just love to capture those in between moments.

If you can find the time in your wedding day schedule to sneak away for a few photos of just the two of you, you can take the time to reflect on the day and get some lovely photos at the same time.

Family and friends

Are your family and guests very dear to you? I always make sure I have a list of your nearest and dearest people at your wedding so I can concentrate on capturing really lovely ones of them as a priority. I love to make Mum's feel special. I want to make friends with your friends so everyone just thinks I'm another guest. I really want to give you legacy photographs that capture people who perhaps wont be with you in years to come. Imagine yourself as an 80 or 90 year old showing your grandchildren your wedding photographs. Probably discussing how amazing your hairstyle was or how that was the year that had the biggest heatwave ever recorded!

What it's all about

Above all else I want your wedding photographs to make you feel the way you felt at that particular moment during your wedding day. The nerves you felt when you were getting ready before the ceremony, the relief you felt when your saw your chosen one at the other end of the aisle, the absolute all-consuming joy you felt when you saw your guests having a ball, the hilarity of your drunk uncle pulling amazing shapes on the dance floor.

The laughter, the tears, the sunshine, the rain, the little moments, and the people who were there to show support for your love.

Client Testimonial

My goodness, where do I start…. From the moment I spoke to Alexa I knew she was the photographer for us. As a professional photographer myself, I know how challenging it can be photographing big days like weddings and the responsibility that comes with having this task. Our brief, was simple, Alexa was the artist we had chosen to capture our big day and we wanted no formalities, just to be herself and just show the fun, and wow, she did not disappoint.

Alexa captured every moment of our day perfectly. We were so wrapped up in the buzz that we missed so much, she gave us that back. Alexa not only shows the fun we have as a couple, but the laughter we share, the intimate, tender moments we have alone and the love we have for each other. As a friend who could not be at the wedding said; “your love radiates through these photos“

Having to work out which ones we’ll hang at home, put in an album and share online seems like an impossible task, but I know this. When I look back over these photos, in a year, 5 years… 35 years… I will always have a happy tear in my eye being transported back to the moment I married my best friend, my soul mate, my wonderful Mr. B.
